2026 National Jamboree - July 22-31

Scouting’s Flagship event is one-of-a-kind. It’s a gathering of approximately 20,000 Scouts, leaders, and staff that showcases everything that is great about the BSA and its members. Held every four years, the Jamboree is an amazing opportunity for participants, volunteers, and visitors to experience the best of Scouting, all in one place. Features include one of the longest zip line courses in North America, a world-class skate park, ATV offerings, treetop canopy tours, rock climbing, patch trading, stadium shows, and much more!
History of the National Jamboree
The First Boy Scouts of America national jamboree was scheduled to be held in Washington, D.C., in 1935 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Scouting in America. Unfortunately, the jamboree was canceled because of a polio outbreak in Washington. When the first jamboree was finally held in 1937, Dan Beard lit the opening campfire using flint and steel. Scouts from all 48 states brought the wood that was used in the campfire. There were 27,232 Scouts camped on the National Mall under the Washington Monument. Since that time, an additional 19 national jamborees have been held, the last in 2023.
The SUMMIT Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve
In 2009, the BSA purchased 10,600 acres of property adjacent to West Virginia’s New River Gorge National Park area to create the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve. The Summit hast hosted the past three National Jamboree’s and was the site of the 2019 World Jamboree. The Summit will be the site for action, high adventure, and an opportunity for scouts from all over the world to gather in 2026.
Minsi Trails Council National Jamboree Contingent
Our Council is planning to send both a Scouts BSA Boy and Girl Troop to the Jamboree. Our trip will include round trip comfortable bus transportation from the Lehigh Valley, all the cool Jamboree gear, and the great experiences you can only find in an event like this.
Youth Contingent Member Information and Application
The National Scout Jamboree is the BSA’s biggest event attracting nearly 20,000 Scouts and Scouters from around the world. The Minsi Trails Council will be sending a limited number of participants to this historic event as follows:
- One Scout BSA Boy Troop made up of 36 youth male Scouts and 4 adult male leaders
- One Scouts BSA Girl Troop made up of 18 youth female Scouts and 2 adult female leaders
Once the space is filled, a waiting list will be started. If space opens in the contingent, those on the waiting list will be contacted in order of their application.
Participant Eligibility Requirements
- Be a currently registered member of a Scouts BSA Troop.
- While not required, it is suggested that Scouts attain the rank of First Class to get the most from this experience
- Be at least age 12 by the first day of the Jamboree – registered scouts 18-21 may also participate in this Jamboree as staff – there are many great opportunities!
- Be approved by the unit leader and the local council.
- Meet all BSA medical screening and BMI requirements.
Jamboree Cost
The current estimated Jamboree contingent member cost is $2,500. This cost includes the fee for the Jamboree, travel to/from, patches and uniform items, and a Jamboree duffel bag and day pack. The Council Jamboree committee does their best to deliver value when planning for the Jamboree, however, there are costs that are beyond our control. We are hoping to find cost savings along the way and if we do, we will pass them along and reduce the final payment.
The suggested payment schedule for this trip is outlined below. It is important that this schedule be followed so that the Council can meet is financial commitments related to this trip. Jamboree scholarships are available, and the amount awarded will based on family need. There will be scholarship opportunities that could help to offset the expense of the Jamboree. We will communicate the process for applying in the near future.

Refunds
Planning the Jamboree experience is a very detailed process. Payments for the Jamboree, transportation, and related costs are made months before the actual trip and are often non-refundable. If for some reason you find that you are no longer able to attend the Jamboree, notice must be made in writing to the Council Service Center. Fees you have paid will not be refunded unless we find a replacement. It is not your responsibility to find a replacement and spaces cannot be transferred or promised to others. We will use our established waiting list to find a replacement if one exists. Deposits are non-refundable under any circumstances with the exception of those placed on the waiting list for whom Jamboree space cannot be secured. We appreciate your understanding.
Jamboree Unit Meetings
Once formed, our Jamboree units will schedule meetings to plan for various aspects of the Jamboree and to keep Scouts and parents informed. Attendance at these meetings is highly encouraged.
Jamboree Code of Conduct
Both a 2026 Jamboree and Minsi Trails Council Code of Conduct will be provided outlining participant expectations and requirements. Above all else, the Scout Oath and Law will guide Jamboree participation. Failure to follow rules outlined in each Code of Conduct may result in a participant being dismissed from the Jamboree contingent and the event at their own expense under parent/guardian supervision. Dismissal is not grounds for a refund.

- I will meet the eligibility requirements including required BSA registration, rank, age and medical requirements outlined for Jamboree participation.
- I will meet my financial obligations as a member of the Council Jamboree Contingent.
- I agree to abide by the 2026 Jamboree and Minsi Trails Council Codes of Conduct and understand that violation of these guidelines may result in my dismissal from the Jamboree at my own expense.

When is the next National Jamboree?
How can I attend 2026 National Jamboree?
The only way to attend the full National Jamboree event is to join the council contingent. We are planning to send a boy troop and a girl troop to the 2026 event. Participants must be 12 years old by the start of the Jamboree. There is no rank requirement to attend the Jamboree, but scouts are encouraged to advance to at least First Class to get the most out of their experience. PLEASE NOTE – we only have a limited number of spots available so please consider registering as soon as possible. Once full, scouts that are interested will be placed on a waiting list.
Single day visitor passes for those that wish to visit the event will be made available closer to the event – please note that these passes only offer a small glimpse of the Jamboree experience.

What is the cost breakdown for the Minsi Trails Council trip to the National Jamboree?
Total cost is $2,500 per participant and the major cost components for the trip are as follows:

We can’t impact the fees charged by National for the Jamboree Program, but there are scholarships available to all participants for this portion of the expenses. The Jamboree Committee is actively working to reduce costs and if successful the savings will be passed along to the participants. We hope to reduce the final payment based on this work.
How do I apply for a Jamboree Scholarship?
Scholarships will only cover a portion of the national Jamboree registration fee and do not include any additional fees required by our council.
Applications must be completed online via the National Jamboree website by one of the two deadlines. A committee will review the applications and determine scholarship amounts for each applicant.
Recipients and their councils will be notified of the results of their application: either approved for a certain amount, not approved, or waitlisted to be considered in the second round.
The first-round deadline to apply is July 31, 2025, with those applicants being notified of their results in early Fall. The second (final) round deadline is November 30, 2025, with those applicants being notified by mid-Winter.
