Scouting America – Minsi Trails Council

Make a Difference in the Lives of Youth

Minsi Trails Council is seeking a motivated and community-focused Membership Specialist to support youth recruitment and membership growth efforts within an assigned service area. This position plays an important role in connecting families with Scouting programs and helping grow local Cub Scout and Scouts BSA units.

The Membership Specialist will work with schools, community organizations, volunteers, and families to promote Scouting and assist with recruitment events, marketing outreach, and membership development.

Position Overview

The Membership Specialist supports the growth of Scouting by assisting with recruitment efforts, helping organize school and community outreach, and supporting local units with membership initiatives. This role focuses on engaging families, promoting Scouting programs, and helping new youth successfully join local packs and troops.

The position involves a combination of community outreach, event support, and administrative coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Membership Recruitment
• Assist with youth recruitment efforts across the service area
• Support school talks, recruitment nights, and community events
• Promote Cub Scouting and Scouts BSA programs to families and community partners

Unit Support
• Assist local units with membership growth initiatives
• Help coordinate recruitment materials and promotional resources
• Support follow-up with prospective families interested in joining Scouting

Community Outreach
• Build relationships with schools, community groups, and local partners
• Assist with marketing efforts including flyers, digital outreach, and events
• Represent Scouting at local community activities and information tables

Administrative Support
• Assist with membership tracking and reporting
• Help coordinate recruitment logistics and materials
• Support district membership campaigns and initiatives

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and engage with families and community partners
• Reliable transportation for travel

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with youth programs, community outreach, or nonprofit organizations
• Experience in sales, marketing, recruiting, or event coordination
• Familiarity with Scouting programs is a plus but not required

Hours & Schedule

• Part-time position with a maximum of 24 hours per week
• Occasional weekend events or trainings may be required

Compensation

• $20 to $24 per hour based on experience
• Paid training provided
