Effective January 1, 2027

Scouting America has announced updates to national membership and unit charter fees, effective January 1, 2027. These adjustments help support the continued delivery of quality Scouting programs, resources, and services.

Minsi Trails Council remains committed to making Scouting accessible to families throughout our communities.

Important Membership Renewal Updates

Scouting America is introducing changes to simplify membership renewals and create a more consistent registration experience for families, volunteers, and units.

  • Online Renewals: Families and adult volunteers can renew their memberships online through Scouting America's registration system.
  • Unit Involvement: Units will have an increased role in coordinating and managing membership renewals.
  • February Renewal Cycle: Scouting America is transitioning toward a common February renewal cycle, with full implementation planned by February 2028.
  • Payment Options: The updated registration system supports additional payment methods, including eligible digital wallets and installment payment options.
  • Renewal Communications: Families and unit leaders should monitor their email for renewal notices and instructions.

Additional information about the transition, including renewal timelines and procedures, will be shared as national implementation continues.

Renew Before December 31, 2026

Members whose current memberships expire on or before December 31, 2026, are encouraged to complete their renewals before year-end to take advantage of current national membership rates. Updated national fees take effect January 1, 2027.

Financial Assistance Is Available

Minsi Trails Council believes that financial circumstances should not prevent a young person from experiencing Scouting.

Through the generosity of donors, community partners, and fundraising efforts, the council is able to provide financial assistance to eligible families.

Families needing assistance are encouraged to contact the Council Service Center to discuss available support.

We also encourage families and units to participate in the annual Popcorn Sale and Friends of Scouting campaign. These efforts help support Scouting programs and opportunities throughout our council.

Financial assistance is subject to available funding. Approval of the full amount requested cannot be guaranteed.
